About Emily: Emily (she/they) is a Yoga instructor certified in Somatic Experiencing whose work explores intersections of embodiment, trauma, and magicks. In 2014, she founded Poseurs, a donation-based yoga collective, in the hopes of offering trauma-informed and socioeconomically accessible yoga in Seattle. Shaped by the punk and queer communities, they had a deep desire to offer an alternative to yoga studio culture steeped in Western and capitalist ideas of fitness. Poseurs grew into a beautiful community of practitioners and teachers brought together by a shared commitment to and celebration of community magic for all. She also co-founded a school through the Yoga Alliance called Practice School of Magic and co-facilitated four 200-hour yoga teacher trainings and and three other continuing education programs between 2017 and 2020, graduating over fifty yoga teachers. Emily now offers weekly trauma-sensitive yoga and somatic practices along with one-on-one Somatic Experiencing sessions at www.somagicks.us.
